Piano'sCool Studio is the home studio of Kelli Keller. The backbone of the Piano'sCool experience is the methodology of Nancy and Randall Faber as presented in My Piano Adventures (4-7 yr. olds), Piano Adventures (8-11 yr. olds), Accelerated Piano Adventures (12-15 yr. olds) and Adult Piano Adventures. Piano experience in Piano'sCool also includes seasonal and popular music of interest to the student, pieces from traditional piano repertoire to emerging piano literature from today's composers. Instruction is tied to traditional piano instruction and at the same time tailored to the student's musical ability and sensibilities. Note reading and rhythm reading, piano technique, music vocabulary and music history are included. These outcomes are achieved through keyboard instruction, pencil and paper assignments as well as online activities.
Each semester culminates in studio recitals. Piano'sCool students who choose to go above and beyond in their achievement have two opportunities during the year for participation in judged events. The first one happens in early November. Students may register for "Sonata/Sonatina Celebration" held by the Northwest Arkansas Music Teachers' Association. All students receive a ribbon reflecting their rating from the judge, for which they are awarded points which accumulate year to year. If they have done well each year they will have accumulated enough points to receive a trophy in the third year of participation. The second happens in mid-April when another judged event is available through the Arkansas Music Teachers' Association. Participants perform two memorized pieces from a published list, take a theory test, and perform keyboard and ear training skills. Local winners progress to competition at the state level.
